The Thong Clap rap, 1983. It was conceived as a piece of satire, intended to poke fun at the Australian obsession with thongs – not skimpy underwear, but rubber footwear (flip-flops). It was performed by my brother Vyvyan and I, although the credit on the record went to Thong de Plume. The thong drum solo was performed on anything that made a noise that I found in the studio kitchen. The producer/engineer/mentor was Corey Fite, who also played keyboards on 2001 Thongs for Beginners.
