Comprising of BVA (SA), Raph and Ransom (VIC), Mnemonic Ascent formed in 1999. After releasing two EPs and one single, they released their debut album “The Outside Inn” in 2001. Their long awaited follow-up “The Book’s Full” dropped in April through Crookneck Records/Stomp.
Mnemonic Ascent first stepped on the Aussie scene with their track Relentless which was featured on The Four Element Effect on the label One Eight Three. Since then they have had a handful of quality releases including their debut album The Outside Inn. Mnemonic Ascent is Melbourne’s own Ransom and Raph alongside BVA from Adelaide. All three handle production with Ransom taking care of the mixdowns and the cuts. Raph and BVA share the mic and have collaborated on tracks with the likes of Koolism, Lazy Grey, Delta, Sleeping Monk and Quro. The unique mnemonic sound has helped solidify their place as one of Australia’s premier Hip Hop crews.

That it’s ok to be your self. Our meaning is to help you learn and rise above. Mnemonic through verse and music, ascent through the meaning of it all. Also for me, if I remember the first line of a song I can remember the whole thing, this a mnemonic device. I know a lot of rappers that sometime have the first line to a song written on their track list whilst doing live shows. – BVA
