Finger Lickin’ Good was an Australian Hip Hop group that was active between 1992-1995. Founded in Adelaide by emcees Madcap ; Quro, they were later joined by producer/DJ Groove Terminator (also known as GT of Tonight Only) as producer. A 3rd emcee, Flak (responsible for discovering and naming Adelaide’s most famous Hip Hop export the Hilltop Hoods) joined the group shortly after the recording of their EP and appeared at their live shows from mid-1993 onwards. Their first release was a limited run of 100 cassette tapes titled ‘Southern Fried’, from which they funded their first vinyl EP release called ‘Illegitimate Sons of the Bastard Funk!’ on Illegitimate Records.
The EP was recorded at Bartel Street Studios, Mixed by Groove Terminator and Engineered/Recorded by Nathan ‘Nook’ Binstock (of Intence Quality) and Tony Elliot. EP Artwork by Hams (QLD). This was the 1st official Hip Hop release from Adelaide, South Australia and the next release would not occur until 1996 via the Hilltop Hoods ‘Back Once Again’ which featured Quro on one track.
FINGER LICKIN GOOD – ‘AS THE RECORD TURNS’
If you don’t know about this crew i’ll let you do the required history but needless to say it is full of familiar faces responsible for a lot of the early and most important ground work in Adelaides music scene. This gem is the “DJ/Instrumental” track by a young lad by the name of GROOVE TERMINATOR. GT went on to have a shit ton of success internationally spanning a few genres but this tune has always kept a special place in my crate – production, cuts, samples, just perfect. – Funkoars

“Down to Adelaide, South Australia 1993, FINGER LICKIN GOOD released a fairly solid 6 track EP, “Illegitimate Sons of the Bastard Funk” which well known DJ GROOVE TERMINATOR put together with rhymers MADCAP and QUROMYSTIX. The attractive two colour packaging artwork came from the talented Brisbane writer HAMS. This gave it that extra classy touch.” – Blaze http://www.bombhiphop.com/kangasty.htm
